2015 Golden Globes Red Hot Red Carpet
The 72nd annual Golden Globes aired last night live from Beverly Hills. Red seemed to be the color of the night but we saw our fair share of white dresses and some ladies dared to take risks in other hues. Which of your favorite movie and TV stars got it right and which should have spent more time on their look? Check out photos from the 2015 Golden Globes red carpet below:
Viola Davis is showing us how to get away with red on red on red in DKNY! The embellishments give her gown a little more flavor and her red lip and red nail are a safe but sure complement. She could have however raised the neckline – it looks like her chest could pop out at any minute!
Zac Posen must be getting back at Lena Dunham for the hell she caused when he babysat for her back in the days because this dress is a huge NO! The color works well for Lena and its on trend for the night but what is this shape?
Since it looks like the young ladies need styling help Jane Fonda came to show them how it’s supposed to be done! The 77 year old actress is the perfect mix of sexy and stylish in this Versace number with side cutouts and pin embellishments.
Lupita Nyong’o spent all last season being the flyest person on the red carpet, but this year it seems she may be giving someone else a chance at that title. This Giambattista dress isn’t bad, but is it good? I’m not quite sure what to think about it. She definitely took a risk, which is always commendable, but I’m not sure if the risk paid off. Maybe this would be better if the top half were solid instead of 3D?
Jane the Virgin’s Gina Rodriguez came to win in Badgley Mischka! The Best Actress winner is a great example of when keeping it simple goes right.
Quvenzhane Wallis is cute in curls and an age appropriate custom Armani gown. She may not have won her award but the young starlet is well on her way to being a young fashionista!
J.Lo’s Zuhair Murad gown actually wasn’t that impressive. Her body is on point as usual, but did she have to try so hard to show it off in that same low cut, high slit combo she’s been rocking since the 2000 Grammys? It doesn’t help that she has the nerve to use all that fabric to make a cape and train when it should be covering her private parts. While her nails look amazing her coif makes her look like a 12 year old who just started doing their own hair on Thursday. But her intense eye makeup looks great!
Emily Blunt looks like a Grecian goddess in this white flowing Michael Kors gown and her braided undo is the perfect complement. Her earrings and bracelets make great accents too!
Kerry Washington’s hair and makeup are flawless but her Mary Katrantzou gown needs a few adjustments. It could have been fitted at the bottom and it definitely didn’t need the dark side panels. Also, what’s with the shoes?
Lorde has shown tremendous growth in her sense of style. She hasn’t completely abandoned her goth side, but she’s traded the trashy look for a more sophisticated version with this crop top and pant suit. Though the suit might benefit from some tailoring, her exposed belly and Neil Lane choker keep the look from being overall sloppy.
Best Dressed of the night goes to Kate Hudson in Versace! There is literally nothing wrong with this look as she manages to pair cut outs with mega cleavage and still not go overboard. The actress could’ve gone with big loose waves but a low bun was probably the best option to keep our attention on the gown.
Did you watch last night’s broadcast? Who would you say were the best (and worst) dressed stars?
