7 DIY Spa Day Treatments to try at home
Trapped indoors due to a snowstorm? No excuse to skip your pampering!! Give your hair new life or rid your skin of impurities with one of these seven skin and hair saving at home methods. Pick as many as time and resources permit to help you stick to your beautylution!
Give Yourself a FaceMask

Prefer to make a mask yourself? Combine 1/4 cup of dry plain oatmeal, 1/4 cup of water and 2 teaspoons of honey until it’s sticky and leave on your face for about 15 minutes.
Deep treat your tresses
Winter dryness affecting your locks? Do your own mani/pedi
Doing your own mani pedi is super simple and if you struggle with this guess what? You’ve got all day to get better. First soak your feet in epsom salt and water to soften feet then rub a pumice stone to slough off dead skin. After drying feet moisturize with a thick cream – preferably one that contains shea or cocoa butter. Wipe nails clean with nail polish remover before applying your base coat, nail color and top coat. Repeat the same steps on your hands.
Give yourself a blowout
It’s really not as hard as it sounds: Wash and deep condition your strands then add a little leave-in conditioner all over hair (bit more for curly or coarse hair). Divide hair into four sections and blow dry one section at a time starting from the back. When hair is completely dry, spritz (lightly) with a heat protectant before running a flat iron over 1 inch sections of the hair, again starting from back to front. Be mindful if your hair is thick, coarse or curly this may take a while so be patient!!
Fake a sauna session
Take a wet washcloth and add two to four drops of your favorite essential oil (try lavender to relax or peppermint). Place the washcloth on the tub floor and run hot water to steam up the room and fill it with the scent. Sit in the bathtub and breathe in to open pores and relax your mind.
Get your body right with a workout!

As awesome as all these external pampering methods are nothing affects your body more than what you put into it. Take this extra time to prepare a home cooked meal full of lean protein and veggies that promote healthy hair, skin and nails . Make fish if you want strong, shiny hair and add carrots or broccoli if you’re looking for clear skin.
