Everything I Need from the Balmain x H&M Collection

The complete Balmain x H&M lookbook is here!

Olivier Rousting says he labored over every piece because he wanted everything to be PERFECT and it shows! Almost every item in this collection is embroidered in brocade or adorned in gold detail, hence the price points…

I’ve been saving for a few months and still can’t afford most of the items from the collection so I’ve narrowed it down to a few faves. Here are the six pieces I’m hoping to add to my wardrobe:

The red top handle bag

$99

$99

Splurging on accessories is always a win because they make or break an outfit and fit even when you gain or lose weight. This red top-handle bag is perfect for a night out or a fancy wedding, and I bet I can pair it with casual clothes too!

The red drape skirt

$99

$99

I’m all about picking the versatile pieces from designer collaborations since their limited edition and expensive. I’ve already dreamt up outfits using this skirt for fancy occasions or casual affairs.

The faux fur coat

$149

$149

I’m on the hunt for a statement coat this season and what than one inspired by Cookie Lyon’s style? Plus I already have an arsenal of shoes that complement this well 😉

The striped trousers

$99

$99

I can’t walk around in my coat all day long, which is why I love statement pants. These black and white striped trousers are an easy way to make an outfit  on lazy dasy and the gold details add instant glam!

The green  mini dress

$200

$200

It’s almost holiday party time! This mini will keep me warm in NYC winter weather, while showing just enough skin to look sexy.

The high neck dress

$149

$149

Because stuffy office holiday parties are still a thing in my life that deep V won’t cut it for every occasion during the Christmas season. This high neck velvet dress will make me stand out as the office fashionista while avoiding a sit down with HR.

While I’m in love with most of the collection, there’s one piece in particular I’m not impressed by: the pink dress:

$499

$499

Don’t get me wrong, its cute! It’s something I’d wear to a Traditional Nigerian wedding but at $499 I’d have to wear it to EVERY Nigerian wedding I ever hear about. And their baby shower. And all the anniversary parties. Gotta get your money’s worth right?

Of course these aren’t the ONLY pieces in Balmain x H&M’s collection – you can see the full collection on my Facebook page. Are you shopping Balmain x H&M or is it too flashy – or expensive – for your taste? Let me know in the comments below!

  • They way my bank account is set up…but that hand bag is so pretty!

    • That’s my one issue with H&M designer collaborations – they’re so out of the average shoppers price range!!

      • Preach! But they have the best accessories, not to mention I have to actually travel to get to an actual store.
