Even with midseason premieres, the launch of several summer series, and shows being cancelled after just a handful of episodes (RIP 666 Park Avenue!), fall is STILL the best season for TV premieres. So which of all these new shoes is worth adding to your regular viewing schedule? Here’s a handful that seem the most promising:


Sleepy Hollow 

SleepyHollowIn this modern-day twist on Washington Irving’s classic, Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) is resurrected and pulled two and a half centuries through time to unravel a mystery that dates all the way back to the founding fathers. Revived alongside Ichabod is the infamous Headless Horseman who is on a murderous rampage in present-day Sleepy Hollow. Crane’s sidekick? Lt. Abbie Mills ,(Nicole Beharie) a young cop with her own supernatural experiences.  (9pm on FOX, premieres Sept. 16)

The Blacklist 

Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader, “The Office,” “Boston Legal”). mysteriously surrendered to the FBI with an explosive offer: He will help catch a long-thought-dead terrorist, Ranko Zamani, under the condition that he speaks only to Elizabeth “Liz” Keen (Megan Boone, “Law & Order: Los Angeles”), an FBI profiler fresh out of Quantico. For Liz, it’s going to be one hell of a first day on the job.  (10pm on NBC, premieres Sept 23)


Brooklyn Nine Nine 

brooklyn-nine-nineWhat happens when a talented, but carefree, detective (Andy Samberg) gets a new captain with a lot to prove? Apparently, lots of comedic shenanigans.  (8:30pm on FOX, premieres Sept. 17)


From Pretty Little Liars executive producers I. Marlene King, Oliver Goldstick, Joseph Dougherty and Leslie Morgenstein, Ravenswood will center on a town, not far from Rosewood, PA (the home base of Pretty Little Liars), which has suffered under a deadly curse for generations. Five strangers suddenly find themselves connected by this fatal curse and need to dig into the town’s mysterious and terrible history before it’s too late for each of them. Pretty Little Liars‘ Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) will star.  (9pm on ABC Family, premieres Oct. 22)



Super Fun Night 

Super Fun NightEasy A‘s Rebel Wilson stars in this new sitcom about Attorney Kimmie Boubier and her two besties who vow to maintain a tradidtion of making every Friday their “Super Fun Night”. (9:30pm on ABC, premieres Oct. 2)


Welcome to the Family 

Welcome to the FamilyWhen Molly and Junior, two recent high school grads, inform their parents they’re getting married, despite having never revealed their relationship,  comedy ensues as the parents, Glee‘s Mike O’Malley and Desperate Housewives‘ Ricardo Chavira get to know each other. (8:30pm on NBC, premieres Oct. 3)

The Crazy Ones 

Academy Award winner Robin Williams returns to television in this workplace comedy about an advertising genius whose unorthodox methods and unpredictable behavior would get him fired… if he weren’t the boss. Simon Roberts (Williams)  is the head of a powerful agency, with the biggest clients and brands in the world, but even more important to him is having his daughter Sydney (Sarah Michelle Gellar) by his side. As his partner, Sydney is Simon’s exact opposite – focused, organized and eager to make a name for herself, but also too busy parenting her father, which she’d resent if he wasn’t so brilliant at what he does. (9pm on CBS, premieres Sept. 26)



Dracula TVIt’s the late 19th century, and the mysterious Dracula has arrived in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. But he has another reason for his travels: he hopes to take revenge on those who cursed him with immortality centuries earlier. Everything seems to be going according to plan… until he becomes infatuated with a woman who appears to be a reincarnation of his dead wife. (10pm on NBC, premieres Oct. 25)
