I went on a four day trip and only packed a purse

I’m the queen of traveling light. Whether it’s trimming my beauty routine or recycling clothes, I always find a way to minimize my travel bag.

For my latest trip, to southern California, I snagged an “economy” ticket through United Airlines, which meant I paid a lot less, but could not bring a carry on. I know, it sounds crazy to survive a four day vacation with just a purse or standard sized backpack right? Challenge accepted!

I survived all four days with a medium Longchamp Pliage and STILL managed to bring a few unworn pieces back home! If you’re wondering how this is possible I have a few tips:

  1. Stick to a color scheme. I’ve said this before but a color scheme allows you to change your mind about a look very easily. This also helps minimize the amount of makeup and accessories you’ll need to bring.
  2. Pack outfits not options. Figure out your trip itinerary and create a look for each activity before you pack.
  3. Wear your bulkiest items while you travel. This way sneakers, jackets and jewelry don’t occupy useful space in your bag!

I could tell you how I do it, but I figured it’s best to SHOW you how it’s done so I made a video. Check out this one minute video explaining exactly how to fit four days of clothes in your personal item:
