Janelle Monae covers David Bowie’s ‘Heroes’ for the 2014 World Cup

Janelle Monae recorded a cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes” and her version is AMAZING!

Monae’s funkified, bass-heavy version is part of Pepsi’s “Now is What You Make It” campaign for the 2014 World Cup. According to Rolling Stone, the singer has already shot a video in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, home of this year’s World Cup that will accompany the single.

Of recording the single, Monae told Rolling Stone, “The way the world is today, you can never write enough inspiring or motivating songs… Those lyrics spoke to me as someone who is for the people.”
