Peter Pilotto for Target Haul
Target’s latest designer collaboration with Peter Pilotto hit stores yesterday and I was sure to line up forpieces from the limited edition collection. I’d narrowed my top picks down to about 10 items but somehow ended up with seven, half of which weren’t even on my original wants list! Check out my new finds.
Their black and white crop top is actually a bathing suit top – but I have NO intentions of wearing it as such. As we transition into spring I’ll be rocking this with my black cigarette pants as well as my high rise jeans. Since the pattern is simple enough, I foresee keeping this in my wardrobe for years to come.
What we didn’t see in the original lookbook was the actual crop top, a cotton/rayon blend sweater with a blue, white and black wave pattern. While it’s still cold outside I’ll just layer underneath it to keep my belly warm.
Another piece I didn’t see in the lookbook but instantly fell in love with was a purple floral print long-sleeved dress. I LOVE a cute dress that can take me from day to night (like the one I scored for my birthday) and since this one has sleeves I won’t have to wait till the weather warms up to wear it!
The dress I was pining for was available and I’m glad I could snag it in my size!! The black panels are super slimming and since it’s sleeveless, it’s more summer friendly than I originally thought. I wasn’t able to get my hands on the rash guard paired with the dress in the lookbook, but I figure it’s for the better since that’s how everyone will winterize the dress. I’ll just have to style it more creatively. 😉
Though I didn’t get that rash guard I snagged a green and blue version. I’ve decided this one better because the pattern is only on the sleeves – so it’s a bit less busy than the other pieces in this collection. There’s a gaping hole in the back so I’ll be layering a t-shirt underneath to make it work-friendly but on weekends I’ll just let my fabulous back rock out!
Last but not least I got another bathing suit. I shouldn’t have – I’ve got way more bikinis than a New York girl who rarely leaves her city needs – but I’m looking forward to rocking this while on vacation this summer.
What didn’t I get? Though the pencil skirts were super cute they weren’t cut for a woman with hips. The asymmetrical skirts worked better for my figure so I’m keeping an eye out in case someone returns one in my size.
I also decided against the sweatshirt. It’s really cute but I don’t wear sweatshirts enough to make adding another to my collection worth the money. I’ll leave that for someone who can get more use of it.
I consider my Peter Pilotto for Target haul a success! I stayed below my $300 budget and walked out happy with everything I got! I’ve already mentally planned a few outfits using my new pieces and can’t wait to share them with you on the blog!
