Summer style must have: The crop top

There’s nothing like a little piece of the 90s working it’s way into our lives, whether it’s on the small screen or in our closets. Crop-tops are back in a big way and the best thing about the trend this time around? There’s a crop top to suit everyone. Here’s how to work the look according to your personal style:

If your belly is your trouble spot

Hiding something? Show just a sliver of skin

While being in tip-top shape may mean you’re willing to bare your full tummy – belly button and all – more to love might require more modesty. Rock a crop with high-waisted bottoms to minimize exposed skin.

If you’re style is more subtle sexy

Avoid drawing TOO much attention in subtle hues and solids

Stick to a basic black crop top to avoid being too flashy. Pair with another simple solid like a black or white bottom. Not into showing too much skin? Go with a long sleeve crop top – but make sure it’s lightweight! – or balance your exposed skin up top with a long skirt or pants.

If you’re cute and girly

Show your sweet side in feminine colors

Don your crop in a light summery color like mint or coral. Pair with a skirt of similar material and glam shoes. Be sure to incorporate neutrals elsewhere in the outfit to tone down the brights.

If you’re super trendy

You can do like Solange Knowles and pair your printed crop top with a printed bottom. Or you can layer your crop over a cami, or under a sheer top. Like mixing prints, be sure the layering pieces coordinate with the patterns on the crop.
