What’s your Beautylution?
How many people resolve to lose 10 lbs each year only to quit the gym by February? This year, instead of making a resolution you won’t keep, make a Beautylution by resolving to update your beauty routine! If you’ve recently found yourself in a beauty rut and searching for new tricks here are a few suggestions on how to improve your beauty regimen in 2013:
Experiment with eyeliner
You’re probably used to using your black Kohl pencil liner everyday. Experiment by learning to use liquid liner or playing around with bright colored liner. If you don’t use liner at all maybe you should just start.
Master a new hairstyle
A sock bun, ponytail, or sleek blowout – we all have that one style we perfected in sixth grade and rely on most days. Shake it up and learn a new go-to style so that you have more options. If you’re not too adventurous start with a simple modification to your normal do like adding a braid or some waves.
Find a new fragrance
So you’ve got your signature scent, but what about a night time perfume or special occasion fragrance? Step out of your comfort zone and try something new. If you usually do floral try spicy. If you’re all about earthy go fresh. A new scent is a subtle and simple way to give yourself a quick boost.
Drink more water
Probably the cheapest and easiest beauty adjustment you can make is also the most beneficial- drink more water. Water helps your beauty from the inside, keeping your hair and skin moisturized to prevent breakage and wrinkles while boosting shine. Aim for eight glasses a day and start out by keeping a refillable water bottle at your desk. Be sure to fill it up every time you near the bottom!
Again what you put into your body comes out through your hair and skin, so this year be more cautious about what you eat. Take in more water with raw fruits and veggies and avoid sugary foods which lead to wrinkles. A complete diet revamp may be too much to take in at once so start with baby steps, maybe just eating more salads or less takeout. Take a photo a day to measure the results on your face and in your hair.
With so much going on we tend to forget to stop and take care of ourselves. In 2013 resolve to make pampering a bigger part of your normal routine. Book hair and waxing appointments in advance to avoid going to long between touch-ups. If you’d rather save money, dedicate at least an hour each weekend for at home facials, and hair masks. Whatever you do make it a point to keep up with the pampering.
New Year’s resolutions are about bettering ourselves and believe it or not, changes in our appearance have a domino effect on changes in other aspects of our lives. Pick a beauty-lution today and do your best to make it a habit by year’s end!
